Description: Cover from GB to Columbia, bearing the 1923 SCADTA 30c handstamped "G.B." cancelled at Baranquilla, without additional Colombia adhesives but with large violet boxed "T/$0.30" (0.30in manuscript). These overprinted stamps were put on sale in the country indicated by the overprint by Consular Trade Missions etc. Most probably this item was placed inside another envelope, addressed to the SCADTA Company, which was removed upon recipe, and Colombian stamps should have been added but the extra postage for onward transmission by air to Bogota was apparently not pre-paid, hence the Tax marking. An extremely scarce and unusual SCADTA item. Most desirable.

Description: Registered cover written by Lt Wilfred Bruce, navigating officer on the "Terra Nova" and brother-in-law of Captain Robert Scott, addressed to Mrs Dennistoun in South Canterbury, New Zealand, bearing Victoria Land 1d single and a pair tied By "BRIT. ANTARCTIC EXPD" datestamps, a third strike on the blank type registration label (number 37), backstamped at Lyttelton (Feb 12), Christchurch and Ashburton. Cancelled on the "Terra Nova" on the day the ship arrived at Cape Evans and learnt of the death of Scott and his companions, carried on the final sailing of the "Terra Nova" from Antarctica back to New Zealand. Only 100 registered letters were sent by members of the British Antarctic Expedition, and few of these now survive. An exceptional cover.

He confesses that he has made mistakes and spent money that he shouldn't have, but reminds him that he has no children or heirs, he instructs Greenfield if necessary to sell shares, and requests 30,000 Francs to be sent to Paris for him. He continues "The world is madder than ever".
